Dental Implant Restorations

Restoring with the Right Prosthetic

A dental implant restoration is the second part of a two-part process, following your dental implant placement, during which we surgically place the implant posts into your jawbone. Completing the process involves attaching connective abutments to the dental implant posts, then securing your dental crown, partial denture, or complete denture (depending on how many teeth you’ve lost) to the abutments and posts. Once completed, your implant-supported restoration will look, feel, and function more like your natural teeth, thanks to the lifelike replacement roots that support it.

The Right Restoration for Your Dental Implant(s)

After your implant placement, you will need to wait until the posts in your mouth fuse to your jawbone, which can typically take 4-6 months. In the meantime, we will place a temporary covering over the post(s) to protect them as your jawbone heals. Then, you will come into our office so we can complete the procedure with an appropriate restoration.

  • Single Tooth Loss–For a single lost tooth, we can place a single dental implant post in the empty space, then top it with a lifelike dental crown. The implant-supported crown eliminates the need for a dental bridge, which would require the support and modification of neighboring healthy teeth.Dental Implant Restorations
  • Multiple Tooth Loss–If you’ve lost several teeth, then your dental implants can support a partial denture, and if necessary, one or more crowns (depending on the locations of your lost teeth). Fortunately, you will not necessarily need one implant for every lost tooth root. On the contrary, comprehensive planning and implant placement can allow for one implant post to restore the functions of two or more lost roots.
  • Complete Tooth Loss–If you’ve lost all of your teeth one your upper and/or lower dental ridge, then we can strategically place a series of implants to adequately support a complete denture. With the support of implants, you will not need to rely on adhesive to hold your denture in place, and the stimulated implant posts will help keep your jawbone strong and healthy.
