Because bright, stain-free teeth are a sign of good oral health and attentive hygiene, investing in a whiter smile with professional teeth whitening is a popular decision. Even though you may take excellent care of your teeth, discoloring is a natural process that occurs with years of exposure to foods and beverages, certain medications, and more. With a brighter smile, you’ll gain confidence you may not realize was missing and will no longer feel self-conscious about flashing your pearly whites.
What Are My Options?
To make your smile enhancement as convenient as possible, we offer a variety of methods tailored to your busy schedule.
Immediate Whitening Results?
ZOOM! Whitening is a system that drastically lightens your teeth within a single visit, often by up to eight or more shades. We will place a hydrogen peroxide-based gel on your teeth while protecting your gums. An advanced light technology system then activates the gel. The bleaching process takes approximately 45 minutes, and to maintain your smile’s brilliance, you can even opt for a take-home kit that allows you to whiten your teeth at home.If you prefer to brighten your smile from the comfort of your own home, we can custom-design a take-home whitening kit complete with comfortable, form-fitting trays and a potent whitening gel. Using the trays to spread the gel evenly over your teeth each day, you can achieve a significantly brighter smile in just two weeks or less.
What If I Have Sensitive Teeth?
The teeth whitening solutions we use are specially-formulated to achieve maximum results with minimal discomfort. We also take every precaution to help you avoid discomfort, protecting your gums and any over-exposed portion of your teeth. After the procedure, we can provide toothpaste formulated specifically for sensitive teeth.
How Do I Decide Which Treatment Is Best?
To decide which teeth whitening technique will be best for your smile, we will perform a thorough examination. Professional in-office treatments, such as ZOOM whitening, and take-home custom-fit trays, are of a much higher quality than over-the-counter options. However, if your teeth stains are intrinsic (internal), or too severe for whitening, then we will discuss other ways to improve your smile’s appearance. For instance, porcelain veneers or cosmetic tooth bonding may be more effective cosmetic dental treatments, especially for patients with darker, more stubborn teeth stains.
What If I Prefer to Whiten at Home?
Whitening at home is a slower process, but this is often beneficial for those who are sensitive to periods of long-term exposure to bleaching. Or, if you have a hectic schedule, you can simply fit your teeth whitening into your day at your convenience. Our team will first create custom-fit trays. You will then apply the instructed amount of gel into the bleaching trays and place them over your teeth for 10 to 14 days for approximately 1 hour a day.
Can’t I Just Use Over-the-Counter Teeth Whitening Kits?
Over-the-counter teeth whitening kits may whiten your teeth up to a few shades, but the bleaching agents are nowhere near as powerful as those provided by professional whitening treatment. You may remove superficial stains, but the OTC products do not have the capacity to remove stains as deeply as our professional treatments.
Can I Eat and Drink as Usual After Teeth Whitening?
Because every smile is unique, each treatment comes with particular directions. In general, immediately after or during your treatment, you will need to avoid certain foods. Red wine, chocolate, coffee, and tea are among the more common offenders. You should also brush and floss regularly to maintain your smile’s brilliant appearance. In addition, brush and rinse your teeth after eating and drinking to reduce your chances of teeth staining.
