Question: What Are Cosmetic Veneers?
Answer: Think of veneers as thin shells that fit over the front of your existing teeth. The veneers are custom fitted and shaded to complement your mouth and facial features. Not only do veneers improve your smile, but they may also assist in bite alignment, preventing various oral conditions.
Question: How Long Is The Procedure?
Answer: Depending on the condition of existing teeth, your doctor may need anywhere from two-to-four visits to complete the procedure over the course of a few weeks. Also, the creation of your custom veneers requires at least a week.
Question: How Are Veneers Placed?
Answer: First, your doctor will determine if enamel needs to be removed for the placement of the veneers. Once enamel reduction is determined and completed, an impression will be taken of your teeth for veneer creation. At this point, you will be given temporaries to wear in the interim while your veneers are constructed. Your custom fitted veneers, once created, will be aligned and placed on your existing teeth using a bonding gel. A curing light is used to harden the bond, and shortly after you will have a beautiful, natural-looking smile.
Question: Who Is A Good Candidate?
Answer: Typically, patients with good oral health (meaning the absence of tooth decay and gum disease) and adequate teeth enamel exist as good candidates for cosmetic veneers.
