Over-the-counter whiteners will only lighten teeth a few shades and remove just the superficial stains. Their bleaching agents are simply not powerful enough to address the deep-set stains removed by our professional treatments.
Downey Family Dentistry offers two in-office procedures that will whiten teeth in only one or two visits:
- The ZOOM Whitening system can whiten teeth up to eight shades lighter in a single visit. The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes. We apply a hydrogen peroxide-based gel on your teeth while protecting your gums. An advanced light technology system activates the gel, accelerating the process.
- Another option is our in-office bleaching trays. This procedure requires two one-hour visits, during which require you to sit with your teeth in trays of a powerful bleaching gel. When the process is complete, you are provided trays and whitening gel for at-home touchups.
- We also offer the home whitening system. You will apply a prescribed amount of bleaching gel into trays custom-fitted by our team. You will place the trays over your teeth for approximately one hour, for 10 to 14 days. It is a slower process, but can be beneficial if you have sensitive teeth or gums. It may also simply be more convenient for anyone who wants the professional whitening, but just doesn’t have time for the in-office procedures.
