Cosmetic veneers are thin shells made of porcelain that we bond to the fronts of your teeth to improve the appearance, function, and alignment of your bite. The porcelain is not only impressively lifelike in its appearance, but also durable enough to withstand the pressures of your bite for a realistic, long-lasting solution to your smile improvement.
Why Veneers Instead of Other Options?
Compared to other cosmetic and restorative procedures, porcelain veneers provide a number of advantages, such as:
- Dental porcelain is semi-translucent, just like your natural tooth enamel, creating a natural-looking shine that makes your veneers virtually indistinguishable from your healthy teeth.
- Unlike dental crowns, which cover an entire tooth, veneers require minimal tooth preparation—particularly, sculpting less than half of a millimeter of enamel from the tooth’s front surface.
- Unlike dental bonding, veneers are highly-durable, and can provide a longer-lasting solution to improving your smile.
- Veneers address a variety of issues, such as discoloration and minor alignment problems, making them a more suitable choice for patients who experience more than one type of cosmetic dental blemish.
What Can I Expect?
During your visit, we will take pre-makeover photos and create enhanced images to show you what your teeth will look like with veneers. Your new smile will begin with impressions of your teeth. Our team will then create mock-up veneers, known as “wax-ups” that you may wear temporarily. This trial-run will allow us to make any revisions to the shape or color of the veneers, or to address any bite issues that may arise. Once your optimal veneers are designed, a trusted ceramicist will create them using your smile’s unique measurements. During your next visit, we will bond the veneers to your teeth, and with proper care, they can last up to 10-15 years.
